Cherry Blossoms Yeoido @ Hangang Park

I went to Seoul on the weekend and stayed with a CS friend; Miju. She and her mother were very nice and we went to view cherry blossoms together.

The bus from Jangpyeong to Dong Seoul Bus Terminal. Fare : 10,900 won.
Duration: around 2 hours.

Nandida's neighbor who frequently cooks pajeon for our tea break.

My CouchSurfer's host - Miju. We took subway line 2 from Gangbyeon Station
until Dangsan Station. It took us roughly 1 hour.

A 3D Pond at Dangsan Station.

Hehe...a cashier at Family Mart posing for us after we bought
kimbap and drinks to go. Miju thought I was crazy for asking him.

yeap..another 100 meter!! We stopped by at a bicycle shop to
rent one but because my knee's condition was bad these days so
we had to walk instead. Mian he Miju ya..

Kenari - another spring flower.

The weather was cloudy but cool.
I loved it!!

Miju with Nakji Samgak Kimbap. It was pretty
spicy just the way I like it.
Go to Maangchi recipe if you want to make it yourself.

Miju really loves flowers but I prefer autumn than
spring. I love warm colours and last year's autumn in
Namiseom was superb!

The crowd at Yeoido.

Breathtaking..I wish I'm in Ueno Park, Tokyo now.
I have so many wishes to fulfill.

With the 2 main stars of Cinderella sister's cut board.

These kids are so cute. I was glad that we went on Friday.
The crowd was not so crazy and the weather was fine.

5 days Market in Jinbu - 5 일 시장

Mr Lee's (Seoul) daughter was smitten by us. Su Hyon fell head over heel for Andy cause this was her first time mingling with foreigners. Me and Andy were tired of the Jinbu escapade the day before but this little angel insisted to go to Jinbu 5 days Market for some Jjin Pang. I was reluctant but she's like an ahjumma so you definitely can't resist ahjumma's force. Hehehe..We went to Jinbu by taxi and in the taxi she was complaining non stop over the taxi fare. The anjusshi was kind enough to give some discount. Initially it was more than 16,000 won but he only charged 15,000 won after our little ahjumma made some noise. The weather was bright and sunny. It was a perfect day to stroll around this amazing market.

This market is just like pasar malam/pasar lambak/pasar tani in Malaysia. It was held once every 5 days.

At the market's entrance.

Jjin ppang - 3 pieces for 1,000 won

Gamja tteok - rice cake with potato filling. Not so yummy
because the tteok is so chewy and unnatural. I love Mr
Lee's handmade tteok better.

더덕 Deodeok - some kind of root. It is Lanceolata
after checking the google translator.Whatever..but I
really love this root when I had lunch near Bulguksa Temple.

Su Hyon.

Antiques anyone?

Mini oranges. I forgot the name but Andy told me
to eat it with the skin intact. Hmm..it has peculiar after
taste. I don't really like it.

This size compared to a giant hand (Andy's ^^)

All sorts of snack. We bought two types. One  packet
is 2,000 won.

Chestnut. Our little ahjumma - Su Hyon asked for freebies
and even bantered with the seller. She was really funny but
because of her we were well taken care of. Komawo Su Hyon aa..^^

That was bondaegi - small larvae. It sounds gross hmm
but all I could say is it is an acquired taste. If you like it
on the first bite, you can rest assured that you could chew it
like snack. I ate it once and for all. Never again will I lay
my hands.

Unofficial models for bondaegi.

Korean sweet delicacies. It is like 'bepang' in Malaysia.

Pickled radish soaked in soy sauce.

Dried stingrays?

More snacks.

Acorn jelly = dotorimuk

A type of melon.

I don't know the name of this seafood but I loved it
when I visited Tongyeong with Ollergi.

Puppies for sale.

Andy bought some banchan with Su Hyon as our
negotiator.

We had some snack - jeon like 'lempeng' in Malaysia.

Andy's favourite - BBQ pig's feet

I stopped her for a quick shot. She felt like model
of the day. Hehe..there was a wedding ceremony
nearby.

The wedding car

We had ice cream inside Family Mart.

My ice cream

Waiting for Su Hyon's father to pick us up.

Happy 700 means Jinbu is 700 metres above sea level.

CNBlue said Assalamualaikum

I can't stop laughing when Yong Hwa said "Assalamualaikum" at 1:54 and Jung Shin said it too. I bet Jong Hyun held his laugh like crazy in there.^^

CNBlue = Love

Jinbu Outing

Nandida had visitors from Seoul; Mr Lee's family from Songpa-gu on the weekend but Andy and me insisted to explore Jinbu eventhough the weather today felt like winter. I wish to see the cherry blossoms this spring but it seems so bleak now. Aigoo..

The snow drizzled lightly when we walked out of the house. We were glad that it was not so cold cause there's no strong breeze. After a few metres walking, we hitchhiked with a guy and a couple of his friends partly enroute to Jinbu. The guy planned to visit a mineral spa nearby so he could drop us to the nearest bus stop. We walked until the end of the junction and hitchhiked again with an old man with a cute dog named Gami. Apparently he is a pharmacist working in Jinbu and his English was pretty fluent. He lived in Los Angeles about 4 months when he was young.

I know..I know..we were just damn bored being at home and braved this
winter like weather. It's already 27th March for God sake. I want spring!!

Why oh why the weather is so cold?!! Grrr...

We dropped by at this small restaurant to eat mandu
and Jjin ppang (red bean bun).

Steaming buns and mandu..yummy.

jjin ppang = red bean bun = pau kacang merah (in Malaysia)

Free promotion for jjin ppang ^^

This is the place..(near J Mart)

Later, we had some odeng (fish paste) and bungoppang (fish shaped red bean cookies)

A small city but not so bad.

We visited a small fish market.

Dried salted fish

We found a small cafe at the corner of the road
for a sip of caffe' latte

A very cute boy.
We met a white guy!! He's from New York and currently
teaching English at Jinbu Elementary School. We met him twice.
Once when we asked him if he knew any bookshop around Jinbu
cause Andy wanted some postcards to send back home and the
second time was at Jinbu Bus Terminal cause he's leaving for
Seoul and we were waiting for bus to Lee Seung Bok Memorial.
Yeah..this world is small or perhaps Jinbu is..hehe

Jinbu Bus Terminal

Mangosteen gummy.

The bus to Lee Seung Bok Memorial - one way is 1,550 won.

Agagaag...cold.
